Finally... An update!

Well, I must apologize for the delay in updating our family blog. It's been a wild and crazy couple of weeks.

School finally is out for the summer. I'm not sure who was more excited for that, Shelly or Rylan. Actually, I would have to guess that Shelly is.

With summer in "full swing" we really haven't done much yet... Rylan is still playing Baseball games, twice a week. He's really having fun, and it's so much fun to watch him. He's a heck of a little catcher.

Outside of baseball, the kids are spending almost every waking moment with their friends the Loertscher's. I am amazed by the distinct differences between the girls and the boys. The boys are content in whatever they are doing, don't make much noise, and rarely make much of a mess. The girls however, polar opposites to the boys! It seems one or the other of them is mad at the other for some really silly thing, lots of crying, whining, etc. And for some reason the girls have the ability to totally devastate the house faster than Shelly can pick it up.

Even with school out, Shelly manages to stay busy with the kids keeping them excited about learning. I am beyond fortunate to have her as the mother to our kid. She's put together a weekly "Chore Chart" for the summer, giving each of the kids simple things to do around the house, as well as having them do reading and math. With the learning part she's put together a "Map" of sorts, that as they read, the can check off a square, and after a certain number of squares are checked off, they are rewarded with Swimming Days, Get-Togethers with the neighbors, etc. I would have never thought of something like that. I guess that's why she's the brains of the family! And the looks too... Of course I am the.... um... well... never mind.

As for me, I haven't been home much the last couple of weeks. If I'm not working at the hospital, I am meeting with a DJ Client, or DJing an event somewhere.

Fortunately, I DJ'd on Friday of this week, so we got to spend all of Saturday together. Well, Mostly together. :)

We started the morning by going to the Tooele County Kids Safety Fair. I wish I still got excited at the sight of things like Ambulances, Fire Trucks, etc. The first thing Kylee had to do was get inside of the ambulance. They also had an inflatable slide that is always a hit with the kids, but the hands-down winner was the free cotton candy.

Rylan then got to go with his cub scout pack to visit the Kennecot Copper Mine. He said he had a lot of fun, which means he's growing up and getting independent, I'm not so sure if I am cool with that!

We spent the afternoon cruising around IKEA. That is one cool store! I can see how that place can seriously hurt the business of many home furnishing stores; great service, terrific shopping experience, and killer prices. Shelly and I will probably end up spending more time and money in there in the future.

Of course, since we were in the city, we just HAD to go the PUB! Their French Onion Soup is still one of the greatest foods on the planet!!! Who would have thought that the kids would get as excited about that as Shelly and I do?! The both only order that, and they eat it all!

So it's now 9AM on Sunday morning. While the family is attending church, I am sitting in the Denver airport waiting 3 hours for my next plane. I'm headed to Nashville for the week to attend a training class at the company office of the hospital I work for. So, I'll use this to keep a log of the things I do that are worth mentioning.
