June 27th, "My 38th Birthday."
Because it falls in the middle of the week, Shelly asked if we could really celebrate my birthday on Friday evening. Of course I'm not going to argue if she wants to do something. I'll never pass up a chance to spend a night with my beautiful best friend! During the afternoon, Shelly and the kids came to my office and brought me a balloon bouquet as well as a "Way Too Big!" piece of chocolate cake. That was a wonderful surprise!
That evening, I got to spend it with my family... and eat General Tso's chicken from HUNAN VILLAGE. That's garlic heaven right there! Thanks to Shelly for a Wonderful Day!
June 28th, "Baseball."
Today was Rylan's final baseball game of the season.
So, Grandma and Grandpa Barnes came down to see it. And they were nice enough to take Shelly and I out to dinner beforehand. Then it was off to the ballpark, even the Loertscher's came to watch Rylan play, that was also really nice!
Ry did really good for his last game, and seemed to have a great time. It was HOT!!!, but we kept the kids cool the fun way! We pour water bottles on their heads. This is especially important after getting out of the Catcher's Gear. That's SUPER hot!
I'm very proud of my little "Slugger!" He did really well this season.
June 29th, "Birthday Present."
Tonight Shelly and I went out to dinner, then she took me to get my birthday present. She had booked us a couple's sauna and massage at the Millpond Spa in Stansbury Park. I think it's the best present ever. Not just the massage, which was fantastic, but the thought that she put into it. I am definitely the luckiest guy around!
June 30th, "Fun, Fun, Fun"
I started the day off riding my bike in Settlement Canyon. Too short of a ride, but there were too many horses on the trail. Horses manage to just rip a perfectly good biking trail to shreds.
Mostly this was a lazy day as we were waiting for Dylan to came home from Scout Camp. When he finally did get home, that kid was BLACK!
That night I DJ'd for the American Fork High School Class of 1962. This was a FUN group. I had a great time. Shelly and the kids went with the Loertschers (Surprise!) to the Drive In and saw Shrek 3 and Surf's Up.
Lucky for me it's also the end of the month, so I got to go from the reunion to work, where I closed out the month for the hospital, getting home around 5am.
July 1st, "What Happened To June?"
It's so hard to believe that it's July already. June was a whirlwind of activity.
After 3 hours of sleep, it was off to church. Amazingly, there were no fights, that seems to be a Sunday morning tradition!
That afternoon Grandma and Grandpa Taylor came to visit. The kids were excited to see them.
We didn't take a lot of photos, but did manage to snap one with Kylee and Grandpa.
July 3rd, "Fun With Family!"
The whole Barnes clan is converging on Park City once again. We all went to Tara and Wes' place for a family dinner. After a great little dinner, Wes, Trevor, and I went for a short bike ride in the beautiful Park City mountains. Trevor held his own considering he hasn't been riding like Wes and I. The ride was rather uneventful.
When we got back, the kids, Grandpa Barns, Tiffany and I went to see the fireworks at the Canyon's resort.
The worst part was it took us 90 minutes to get out of the parking lot to make a 3 minute drive back to Wes' place.
Kylee, Shelly, and I slept 0n an air mattress in Wes' basement, Shelly and I froze our butts off, and Kylee had to be woken up the next morning she slept so well... Kids I tell ya!
July 4th, "Fun In The Sun!"
Shelly and I were awake by about 6, rolled upstairs around 7, and Wes and I left to go on another bike ride around 8.
We rode the Mid-Mountain trail from Deer Valley resort to the Canyon's. Along the way we each had a "pinch-flat" on a tire, and I managed to hit a tree. That was actually funny after I was done being pissed off! About 20 miles into our 23 mile ride, while riding down a dirt road, my front tire went flat again. For No Reason Whatsoever. And since we had used all of our spare tubes and patch kits already, I had to walk my bike the rest of the way. At one point, to save time, we went straight down one of the ski runs, I don't suggest doing that if you can help it.
Fortunately the girls were willing to drop a car off for us, unfortunately we were in trouble for having been gone for nearly 6 hours. Apparently we interfered with "Pool Time."
So off to Wes' (after buying new tubes and a new tire) for a shower, then to Promontory for fun at the pool!
Even Jace had a great time!
It was also good to see Nate, Angie, Alexis, and Olivia as well!!!
