I Know... I Know... It's been WAAAYYY too long since I updated the family blog, so, I'm going to squeeze all of January into one long post.
New Year's Eve / Day
We spent New Year's Eve over at the Loertscher's with Bruce and Lisa Johnson. Bruce made a fantastic Elk stew, one of the best stews I have ever eaten. (Shelly didn't find out it was made from Elk until a few weeks later! :) Otherwise she would not have eaten every drop in her bowl!) We rang in the New Year playing games, eating lots of treats, and enjoying the company of friends.
Dylan went home the next day, his stay here seemed to go by really fast. We really enjoy him when he's here and miss him when he's gone.
Getaway
Tiffany came down on the 10th to visit with the kids to visit for a few days.
Knowing she was coming, I made arrangements to have her help me pull a surprise on Shelly.
Friday the 11th as I went to get Pizza for the night, I slipped Shelly a card that told her to pack her bags for the night, we were going somewhere. Once we were on the way, I let her know that we had a Suite at the Peppermill casino and we had tickets to the Sawyer Brown concert that evening.
Considering the fact that I had been busy every weekend for the past several months, I figured we needed a getaway, and I can't tell you h0w nice it was to just get away with Shelly not worrying about anything else but having fun. We probably should have asked someone else to take the picture...
The concert was good, Sawyer Brown always gives a good performance. I can't recommend the Peppermill Concert Hall enough, that is a fantastic venue!
The next night Tara and Wes came for the night, the needed us to give them a ride to the airport the next day so they could spend the next couple of weeks in Hawaii, (Rough Life!) Since Shelly and I had to speak in Sacrament Meeting, I got to speak first so I could leave right after my talk and take them to the airport. I'm sure they will have a great time, and of course we are jealous!
Best Mom Ever!
Shelly and Anna took advantage of the kids having a 4 day weekend over the Martin Luther King holiday to take the kids to a hotel on Sunday the 20th. The kids absolutely LOVE getting away, especially at a place with a pool.
It's now the 31st of January, it's hard to believe that the month is gone already; time sure flies.
Happy End of 2023
